Fundraising during a pandemic can be especially difficult considering the safety precautions and restrictions we're all trying to adhere to.  Gone (for now) are the days of packed ballrooms and spirited galas that seemingly took place in the Capital Region at least once or twice a month.  Today, many local foundations are finding new and inventive ways to raise funds while keeping the fun and excitement alive.  One of my favorite fundraising events is the annual  "Holiday Kickoff" to benefit the St. Peter's Hospital Foundation. My hope is you'll find one hour on Saturday night to tune in and watch and perhaps even make a donation if you're able to do so.

The 22nd anniversary of the Holiday Kickoff will be a televised event on Saturday, November 21st on News Channel 13th at 7PM.

St. Peter's is where I was born, where I spent countless hours nursing injuries growing up in Albany and where my mom was lovingly and effectively treated after her breast cancer scare just a few years ago.  This year, their annual "in person" gala has been been altered just a bit  but I believe that the 2020 Holiday Kickoff will be just as exciting and perhaps even more important than ever.

The 22nd anniversary of the Holiday Kickoff will be a televised event on Saturday, November 21st on News Channel 13th at 7PM.  The one hour special will feature and highlight many local front-line heroes, fun and exciting online auction items as well a performance by country star Brett Young!

Your support will provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to front line nurses and doctors that they need to stay safe while caring for COVID19 patients, nutritional support during a long shift, and Heroes Landing – a place of respite for health care workers at no cost.

Is this years Holiday Kickoff going to be different from years past? It sure it.  But if 2020 taught us anything, it's that sometimes change is good and the ability to overcome obstacles through resiliency is our greatest strength. And perhaps more than ever, we learned that our health is paramount an that our health care workers should be honored, supported and cherished - and this event will go a long way to do just that.

I surely hope you tune in.

Sincerely,

Brian Cody and all of our family at WGNA.
