Caroline Jones to Join Trisha Yearwood Concert Dates

Caroline Jones is set to release her new EP, Chasin' Me, in a week, and she's revealing two upcoming tour dates on which she'll support Trisha Yearwood in November.

Jones will support Yearwood on Nov. 8 at a performance at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, Wisc., and again on Nov. 9 for a show at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, Minn. Jones has shared stages with Zac Brown Band, Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney and more, but she's never met Yearwood before, and she tells Taste of Country she's excited about the upcoming dates, which are part of Yearwood's 2019 Every Girl on Tour.

"I'm very much looking forward to that. I really admire her not only as one of the best vocalists country music has produced, but also as an entrepreneur and businesswoman," she says.

Jones cites Yearwood as an influence on her own vocal style alongside other '90s females including Faith Hill and Shania Twain, as well as select female country singers from the '70s and '80s.

The Yearwood dates fall just weeks after Jones will drop Chasin' Me, which is her first new collection since Bare Feet in 2017. The new EP features six new tracks, and fans have already heard three of them in advance: the title song, a re-recording of a fan favorite titled "Tough Guys" and “Gulf Coast Girl,” a collaboration with Buffett, Chesney, Lukas Nelson and Mac McAnally, who are billed as the Pelicanaires. "Gulf Coast Girl" is an anomaly for Jones in that it's the only song she's ever recorded that she did not write or co-write. Buffett and McAnally have been two of Jones' biggest mentors, and they co-wrote the song specifically for her to sing.

"Which is just an incredible honor," Jones gushes. "And to make it even more of an honor, they wrote it about the places along the Gulf Coast of America where they grew up and have spent much of their lives, and all these towns and locations and landmarks that are so integral to their history and their culture."

Zac Brown also teamed with Jones to write a song on the EP titled "All of the Boys," which was the first song she wrote for the new collection.

"I think it did set the tone, because this album is a little bit higher-energy. Because we've been performing live for three years now, and so that's kind of a rawer pop-rock influenced song," she says.

Jones played all of the instruments on Chasin' Me except the bass and drums, and she co-produced the project with Ric Wake, who has worked with a wide spectrum of artists including Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez and more. She lauds Wake for his "perspective and over-arching artistic vision and understanding of the kind of artist that I am. It's an amalgam of all of these different styles and influences; pop and dance and rock and country, obviously. He understands that, having made pop records. He grew up on classic rock and made rock records, and he made tons of dance records. He has the experience and the perspective, and also just the love for the craft."

Chasin' Me is currently available for pre-order, and one hundred percent of the proceeds from the pre-orders will go to benefit the HeadKnowles Foundation, which is supplying aid in the recovery efforts in the Bahamas in the wake of Hurricane Dorian.
