Chris Young + Fans Remember Late Loved Ones in ‘Drowning’ Video [WATCH]
Chris Young fans should have known the music video for his single "Drowning" would be an emotional one. The country star remembers a late loved one in the clip, which readers can watch above, and invited some fans to do the same.
Young's heart-wrenching "Drowning" video opens with the singer holding up a picture of his late friend, Adam Carnes, who inspired the song about dealing with the grief that comes with losing someone important in your life. Throughout the clip, shots of Young performing "Drowning" are interspersed with fans who attended Young's Richmond, Va., Raised on Country Tour stop sharing photos of their own deceased loved ones.
Some of the fans in the "Drowning" video can't hold back their tears as they remember their sadness, while others beam thinking about what those special people meant to them. Young directed the personal clip alongside Jeff Johnson.
“I’ve been so amazed at the reaction to this song,” says Young. “I wrote it with two friends as a moment of healing and had no idea it would touch so many people before it was even chosen as a single. The video, combining so many personal moments alongside a live performance, totally embodies that."
Young wrote "Drowning" with frequent collaborators Corey Crowder and Josh Hoge; it will appear on Young's next album, Raised on Country. The album's title track was its first single, and Young has teased collaborations with Lauren Alaina, Kane Brown and Brad Paisley and Riley Green, but full details of the project have yet to be announced.
