Cooperstown Fugitive Will Return to Otsego County
62-year-old Barry Renert is coming back to New York State.
The man accused of menacing a Cooperstown retailer has waived extradition in the state of Virginia. Renert was captured December 23rd in Richmond, Virginia after he fled New York State. Renert will be returned to New York State within ten days for arraignment.
Cooperstown Police, New York State Police, and the Otsego County Sheriff's Department all responded to the scene at the 7th Inning Stretch memorabilia store on December 23rd after they say Renert walked into the store with a gun and threatened someone inside the store.
