Frozen Carne Asada Burritos Recalled In New York State

Don Miguel Foods, which is based in Dallas, Texas, is recalling its ready-to-eat carne asada beef burritos. The burritos were produced on September 27, 2023.

The products at the center of the recall are:

7-ounce Don Miguel Hand Made Burrito Carne Asada in wax paper packages with date code D23270 printed on the packages.

The products may be contaminated; laboratory testing indicated the potential of Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeriosis is a serious infection usually caused by eating food contaminated with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. An estimated 1,600 people get listeriosis each year, and about 260 die. The infection is most likely to sicken pregnant women and their newborns, adults aged 65 or older, and people with weakened immune systems.

The burritos were shipped to retailers in New York State and nationwide. If consumers have any of the frozen burritos in the freezer they should be returned to the store of purchase or thrown away. While there have been no confirmed reports of sickness, if you experience any of the symptoms of Listeria - fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, diarrhea - call your healthcare provider.
