Unadilla, New York Man, Mother Arrested on Sexual Abuse Charges
The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of two individuals following an investigation into reported sexual abuse in and around the Town of Otego. The investigation revealed that over several years, Eugene Buzie subjected children under thirteen to various forms of continuous sexual abuse. His mother, Mandie Brown, was aware of the abuse and failed to intervene, allowing her son access to the children until his arrest.
On July 19, 2024, the defendants were located at their residences and taken into custody. Both were lodged in the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await Centralized Arraignment. Orders of Protection were requested on behalf of the victims. Due to the extent of the abuse, Otsego County Child Protective Services were contacted, and four children were removed from the residence. The Otsego County District Attorney’s Office recommended bail for Eugene at $10,000 cash, $10,000 credit card, and $100,000 surety bond.
The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Otsego County Child Protective Services, the Otsego County Child Advocacy Center, and the Otsego County Probation Department. Additional charges are pending.
