New York Has Some Surprisingly Decent Driving Statistics
A study by Lending Tree looked at which states have the safest and most dangerous drivers. They did this by counting the number of driving problems for every 1,000 drivers in four categories: accidents, DUIs, speeding issues, and other driving violations.
It might come as a surprise, but New York State, known for its many busy roads and traffic, also has some of the best drivers compared to other states.
The study found that Massachusetts has the worst drivers, followed by Rhode Island, California, Washington, D.C., New Jersey, North Carolina, Washington state, Maryland, North Dakota, and Utah. However, the states with the best drivers are Arkansas, Michigan, Vermont, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Alaska, West Virginia, Illinois, Louisiana, and Mississippi, with New York close behind.
Some people might say that the information challenges the idea that New York drivers are always careless and aggressive. Even though New York didn't come in first in this study, its good ranking makes us rethink our assumptions about driving habits. It shows that there is more to consider about how people drive in different parts of the country.

In general, the study noticed that the states with the worst drivers are mostly on the east and west coasts, with a few from the middle of the country. On the other hand, the states with the best drivers are mostly in the southern areas, which makes it interesting that New York is part of that group.
