Sunday night around 11:30 pm, Oneida County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a two-car accident on Route 365 in the Town of Westmoreland. According to the Sheriff's Office, it all started with 20-year-old Joshua Parker of Utica, who was on his way to work when he experienced trouble with his vehicle so he was driving slowly with his hazard lights on, along Route 365.

Parker's vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Lance Johnson of Oneonta. Police say Johnson was transporting medical test samples to a lab.

Parker suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica but Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say that there's no evidence of foul play or that Johnson was driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol but the crash is being investigated.
