Grammy Award-winning country vocal group Little Big Town headed to the Big Apple on Thursday (Sept. 12) to perform their new single “Over Drinking” for the first time on the Today show.

“We were finished with the record and some of our amazing songwriter friends in Nashville teased us with a little video clip of them writing at the beach and drinking wine,” LBT singer Karen Fairchild tells Today co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Meredith Vieira about how “Over Drinking” fell into their grateful laps thanks to songwriters Jesse Frasure, Cary Barlowe, Hillary Lindsey, Ashley Gorley and Steph Jones. “It just has this great hook.”

That hook certainly came to life in the performance, as the harmony of Fairchild and fellow LBT members Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet shone throughout the entire performance.

Little Big Town's new single focuses on classic country and feature a lyric that boasts of how the narrator has left behind the pain of a breakup.

"Yeah, I'm over drinking over you / I'm done with bottles or chasing the blues / I still go out with the boys and knock back a few / But I'm over drinking over you / Yeah, I'm over drinking over you," Little Big Town sing in the chorus.

After the performance, Fairchild shared a pic of the group on set, and gushed over getting to spend her morning with the Today crew.

Little Big Town will release their next album, Nightfall, in January of 2020. The foursome will head back to New York as they bring the Nightfall Tour to the historic Carnegie Hall in New York City on Jan. 16. This is the first mainstream country performance featured at Carnegie Hall since Alan Jackson in 2013.

The tour will go on to travel to more than 30 prestigious theatres throughout the country through the spring.
