If you live near the Chestnut Street, Oneonta McDonalds and heard sirens and a lot of activity last night after midnight, then unfortunately, you weren't dreaming. According to Otsego County Fire Wire, several fire crews were called to the scene of a fire at Monser Brothers Tire & Auto Repair located at 375 Chestnut Street due to a fire in progress at the business.

Responding fire departments were West Oneonta, Laurens, West Laurens, Mount Vision, Franklin, Sidney, Worcester, Pindars Corners, Otego, and Milford.

This is the second fire for this business owned by Jeffrey Gelbsman, a long-time Oneonta resident and business owner. Monser Brothers used to be located on Wall St. in Oneonta and was destroyed by a fire on the evening of Aug. 16, 2002. Following that fire, the business was moved to 375 Chestnut St. where it has remained open until last night's fire.
