U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer was in Sidney Thursday announcing his plan to fight for federal funding to build a early flood warning system in Delaware County. According to Schumer's office, the $150,000 grant sought by the county would cover about half the system’s cost. Officials say the system is needed as the lack of of broadband internet and cellular service make traditional weather alert systems ineffective. Schumer says not having the system puts the county’s $400 million tourism industry at risk.
