The 22nd Annual Leatherstocking Sheepdog Trial takes place this weekend at the Robert F. Clark field off Beaver Meadow Road in Cooperstown. According to organizers the Sheepdog Trial is a competitive dog sport in which a dog moves sheep around a field, through gates, and into enclosures as directed by their handler.

The workmanship between dog and handler, and the ever unpredictable sheep, make for a fascinating sport to watch. The trial is Saturday, Sunday and Monday with start times around 8:00 a.m. each day. For more info: leatherstockingsheepdogtrials.com.
