Family bluegrass band Williamson Branch are premiering the new music video for their song "Blue Moon Over Texas" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play above to watch.

Taking a great deal of inspiration from Bill Monroe's bluegrass classic "Blue Moon of Kentucky," Williamson Branch's "Blue Moon Over Texas" pairs classic bluegrass harmonies with jangly instrumentals and singer Melody Williamson's angelic lead vocals. "There's a blue moon over Texas, and it's as blue as the blue in your eyes," she sings. "There's a blue moon over Texas, and it's been blue ever since you said goodbye."

The melody of "Blue Moon Over Texas" is decidedly upbeat for a song that's about losing your true love. According to Williamson, that was kind of the point.

“One of the great things about bluegrass music is, even heartbreak songs leave you feeling good," she tells The Boot. "We also love to layer rich harmonies on top of driving instrumentation. "Blue Moon Over Texas" has all that and more!"

Comprised of dad and guitarist Kevin Williamson, mom and mandolin player Debbie Williamson, fiddlers Caroline Williamson and Melody Williamson, bassist Kadence Williamson and banjo player Anthony Howell, Williamson Branch have earned millions of views on social media thanks to their stunning covers of gospel classics such as "I'll Fly Away" and "Amazing Grace." On Friday (Oct. 25), the band will release their newest album, Classy. Sassy. Bluegrassy., on which "Blue Moon Over Texas" appears.

Williamson Branch have a bevy of tour dates scheduled, both solo performances and festival slots, through the end of 2019 and into the new year. Visit WilliamsonBranch.com to learn more about both their new record and their upcoming shows.
